On 25 May 2025, we celebrate Africa Day—this year’s theme is “Building the Africa We Want through Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability.” It’s a moment to reflect on our shared progress and ongoing commitment to shaping a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous continent.

Africa has made significant strides in recent years. Between 2023 and 2025, internet penetration rose from 43% to over 50%, enabling broader access to digital tools and services. Mobile money adoption continues to grow, with more than 70% of adults in Kenya and Ghana using fintech platforms daily—not just statistics, but signs of real transformation.

A key driver of this progress is the African Union’s *Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024)*. Launched in 2020, STISA positions innovation as the engine of Africa’s socio-economic development. Its focus on infrastructure, skills, entrepreneurship, and research empowers communities and advances local solutions for food security, healthcare, and clean energy.
